Venerable Pothila had studied the Buddhist canon until becoming an expert and had been a teacher for 500 monks. Because of understanding that he had much knowledge of the Buddhist canon, he then was pride. The Buddha knew this weakness of the Venerable and had the will to correct him to follow the right path. Therefore, every time, when the Venerable visited the Buddha, the Buddha would call him "Venerable Empty Scripture." When the Venerable heard that, he felt that the Buddha wanted him to perform his duties on meditation diligently until he achieved some kind of result. Therefore, he left the Jetavana monastery and went to another temple. There, he respected a seven-year-old novice as his teacher. When you receive the advice from that novice, he actively practiced the meditation until he had attained arahantship. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat one hundred and 608 (corresponding with CS 1168), on the fourth day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, Monday, a ka khai day, the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of tut sai khao ha kong laeng (between 12.00–13.30 o’clock), on a ka khai day.
