EAP REGIONAL HUBS NETWORK

EAP is working with a network of regional hubs to co-create and deliver a series of online and onsite training opportunities for institutions, researchers, archivists, librarians and anyone interested in protecting archival material at risk.

To date, EAP has set up four regional EAP hubs across the globe, which serve as a focal point for regional outreach and training tailored to each region’s needs and interests:

Webinar on Audio Preservation: An Introduction

Led by a British Library senior sound archive technician in collaboration with the School of Cultural Texts and Records at Jadavpur University , this webinar will cover:

  • A brief history of sound recording technology from the 19th century to today
  • Identifying and prioritising sound formats for preservation
  • The storage, care and handling of sound collections

Webinar on Audio Preservation: Ethics, Principles and Strategies

  • The purpose of the sound archive
  • Digitisation principles: digitising sound recordings for preservation
  • Digitisation strategies: planning, best-copy and equipment selection, target digital formats
  • Digital preservation basics: metadata, file management and digital storage

  1. 11 to 13 October 2023 – 3 day workshop on sound digitisation at the School of Cultural Texts and Records Jadavpur University, Kolkata

  1. 24 to 28 October 2023 – 3 day workshop on common conservation issues in leather bindings and fundamentals of digitisation

We have just issued an open call for applications for both workshops: EAP MENA HUB - Conservation Workshop Fall 2023 (libwizard.com)The deadline for applications is 24 September.

 

  1. November 2023 – Online course on the conservation of documentary heritage in Spanish

Organised with the Instituto Riva-Agüero at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP and the Association of Latin American Archives (ALA), this course will be delivered in Spanish and consist in 4 pre-recorded webinars and 4 live discussion sessions.
