The content tells the story of Venerable Subhadda. One day, Subhadda asked for permission to see the Buddha for asking questions, but Venerable Ananda would’nt give him permission. Because the Venerable did not want him to disturb the Buddha who was being sick. The Venerable rejected Subhadda's request for three times until the Buddha over heard and told Venerable Ananda to allow Subhadda to see him. Subhadda asked questions to the Buddha. The Buddha answered the questions and delivered a sermon on the noble eightfold path for Subhadda. After listening to the sermon, Subhadda became faithful and asked for the ordination. The Buddha ordained him as a monk along his wish. Venerable Subhdda was the last monk who was ordained by the Buddha. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat one hundred and 6108 (corresponding with CS 1168), a hwai nyi year, on the fourth day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, the second day of the week (Monday), a ka khai day. Phia Phanna and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Thammapattha (Dhammapada) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
