When the Buddha ascended to stay for the Buddhist Lent in Tavatimsa, the people who were faithful in him wondering where the most excellent one in the world is, why do we not see him? They went to ask Venerable Maha Moggallana and received the answer that the Buddha ascended to rest in the heaven in order to preach the Abhidhamma to his mother. The people then asked when the Buddha will descend from heaven and where will we all gather to him? Venerable Maha Moggallana then ascended to ask the Buddha. The Buddha said, “Moggallana, now where is Sariputta? Sariputta is in Sankassa city, the Venerable answered. The Buddha then said, if so, I will descend at the gate of the city of Sankassa on the day of Mahapavarana. Moggallana, please inform the people like this. Anyone who wants to see the Buddha should go there. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 1219, a moeng sai year, on the twelfth day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, a hwai sanga day, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of thae kai thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock). Sathu Mòm (Princess), mother of Princess Kham-on had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Thammapattha (Dhammapada) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes come true. Nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (Nirvanaa is the greatest bliss).
