On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha spoke to his disciples about 500 monks. Once, the monks were talking in the Dhamma pavilion, the Buddha heard that. He left his abode and went to the pavilion. At the time, a wise monk asked the Buddha for his sermon. The Buddha preached the sermon saying "Sukho buddhānaṃ appādo, Sukhā saddhammadesanā, Sukhā saṅghassa sāmaggī samagganaṃ tapo sukho" which means the birth of the Awakened Ones bringing happiness, the teaching of the True Dhamma bringing happiness, the unity of the Sangha bringing happiness and the meditation of those in unity bringing happiness. When the sermon was over, those monks attained arahantship. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 1219, a moeng sai year, on the twelfth day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, a hwai sanga day, the third day of the week (Tuesday), the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of thae kai thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock). Sathu Mòm (Princess), mother of Princess Kham-on had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Thammapattha (Dhammapada) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes come true. Nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (Nirvanaa is the greatest bliss).
