On one occasion, the Buddha was residing at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. At a dawn, the Buddha was surveying the world through his divine version he saw a battle between two nagas. The Buddha travelled by air accompanied by a Sumanadevata. When the Buddha was there, he was in a sitting postion and created by supernatural power the storm and heavey rain. These happening made the two nagas were frientened. Then the Buddha radiated six rays emerged from his body. When the two nagas saw that they stopped the fighting and came to pay homage to the Buddha. Then the Buddha gave them his teaching. Colophon: Folio 31 on the recto side: Buddhist Era 2488, a hap hao year, the twelfth day of the waning moon of the ninth lunar month, and the third day of the week (Tuesday). The writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of the kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The Supreme Patriach Thammanyano from Vat Mai together with his disciples and lay Buddhists sponsored the making of [this manuscript entitled] Mathurotvahini, there are seven fascicles in this bundle, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna constantly and certainly the greatest bliss.
