ໃນກາລະອັນລ່ວງພົ້ນມາແລ້ວ ຍັງມີບ້ານແຫ່ງໜຶ່ງ ຊື່ວ່າ ພົມມະຕິດສະໂຈລີ ຊາວບ້ານໃນບ້ານນີ້ໄດ້ປະກອບອາຊີບກະເສດຕະກອນດ້ວຍການປູກໝາກຖົ່ວ ເມື່ອເຖິງລະດູໝາກແກ່ແລ້ວ ຊາວບ້ານທັງຫລາຍກໍ່ໄດ້ພາກັນໄປເກັບໝາກຖົ່ວ ໃນຂະນະນັ້ນ ນາງກຸມມາລີຜູ້ໜຶ່ງທີ່ໄປເກັບໝາກຖົ່ວນັ້ນ ເຫັນພິກຂຸອົງໜຶ່ງກໍາລັງຫີວນໍ້າ ນາງຈຶ່ງເອົານໍ້າໄປຖວາຍໃຫ້ແກ່ພິກຂຸຈົນໝົດ ເມື່ອເຖິງເວລາພັກຜ່ອນ ຊາວບ້ານທັງຫລາຍຊອກຫານໍ້າດື່ມ ນາງກຸມມາລີຈຶ່ງບອກວ່າ ຕົນໄດ້ຖວາຍນໍ້ານັ້ນໃຫ້ແກ່ພິກຂຸອົງໜຶ່ງໝົດແລ້ວ ຊາວບ້ານກໍ່ກັນຕິຕຽນນາງ ພ້ອມກັບບອກໃຫ້ນາງໄປຕັກນໍ້າມາໃຫ້ກິນ ນາງກຸມມາລີ ຈຶ່ງໄດ້ອະທິດຖານຫາບຸນກຸສົນທີ່ເຄີຍທໍານັ້ນ ກໍ່ເກີດອັດສະຈັນ ແຜ່ນດິນຍະແລະມີນໍ້າບໍ່ໄຫລອອກມາ ນາງຈຶ່ງຕັກນໍ້ານັ້ນໄປໃຫ້ຊາວບ້ານໄດ້ດື່ມ ເມື່ອນາງຈຸຕິຕາຍຈາກຊາດນັ້ນ ກໍ່ໄດ້ໄປເກີດເທິງສະຫວັນສະເຫວີຍທິບພະສົມບັດໃນວິມານ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: (໑) ລານທີ່ ໒໙ ໜ້າ ໒: ອາຈານພັນ ເປັນຜູ້ຂຽນ ຫາໄວຍາກອນຕື່ມໃຫ້ພໍ ຖ້າວ່າບົກພ່ອງ ຂາດອັກຂະລະໄປຕົວໃດຕົວ ໑ ກໍ່ດີ ແລເຫລືອຄວາມນິໄສໄປຕົວໃດຕົວ ໑ ກໍດີ ຜູ້ຂ້າອານຸຍາດ ຂໍຢ່າໃຫ້ເປັນບາບແລກໍາເວັນແດ່ກໍຂ້າເທີ້ນ ສາທຸ ສາທຸ ອານຸໂມທາມິ ນິບພານັງ ປະຣະມັງ ສຸກຂັງ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: (໒) ລານທີ່ ໓໐ ໜ້າ ໑: ພຸດທະສັງກາດຣາຊະໄດ້ ໒໔໘໘ ຕົວປີຮັບເຮົ້າ ເດືອນ ໙ ລົງ ໑໑ ຄໍ່າ ພໍ່າວ່າໄດ້ ວັນ ໓ [ລິດຈະນາແລ້ວ]ຍາມກອງງາຍ ໝາຍມີ ພະສົມເດັດພະສັງຄະຣາດ ບຸນທັນ ວັດໃໝ່ ພ້ອມດ້ວຍສິດໂຍມສ້າງຍັງ ມະທຸຣົດວາຫິນີ ມັດນີ້ມີ ໗ ຜູກ ໄວ້ຄໍ້າຊູສາສະໜາພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າຕາບຕໍ່ເທົ້າ ໕ ພັນວັດສາ ນິບພານະ ປັດຈະໂຍ ໂຫນຕຸ ໂນ.

Once in the past, there was a village called Phommatissacholi. The most villagers were agriculturists. They planted beans. When the beans had been mature, the villagers together picked the beans. While others picking the beans, a girl saw a monk who was thirsty. So, she offered the monk their drinking water. During the rest time, the people looking for the water, they found out no water. The girl told them that she offered a monk all the water. The people blamed her and told her to bring them the water. The girl prayed the results of the merit from her good deeds. There was a miracle, the ground opened and a stream came out. She took the water to the people. After death, she was reborn in a heaven along with a heavenly castle. May this not be sin and bad karma. Amen, amen! I rejoice. Nibbāna is the greatest bliss. Colophon: (2) Folio 30 on the recto side: Buddhist Era 2488, a hap hao year, the eleventh day of the waning moon of the ninth lunar month, and the third day of the week (Tuesday). [The writing of this manuscript] was accomplished at the time of the kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The Supreme Patriach Bunthan from Vat Mai together with his disciples and lay Buddhists sponsored the making of [this manuscript entitled] Mathurotvahini, there are seven fascicles in this bundle, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
