There was a village called Sotapalakham in Thakhakara city. There were 300 families in the village, who were the servants feeding the auspicious elephant of the king of Thakhakara city. One day, 500 thieves stole the elephant and offered it to the king of Phahara city. When the king of Thakhakara was informed about the stealing of the elephant, he ordered the army to arrest the villagers and punish them. The villagers were asked to collect the amount of money of 99,000 to give to anyone who could find the elephant. Meanwhile, a boy came and saw the villagers being punished. He asked about the reasons for the punishment. He knew that the villagers could not keep the elephant in their care. Then the boy went to take the elephant back from the king of Phahara and gave it back to the ministers of Thakhakara city. The ministers then gave the money 99,000 to the boy and returned Thakhakara. After the officers returned, the boy returned the money to the villagers Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (BE) 2505, a tao nyi year, the thirteenth day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, Tuesday, at 1.00 p.m., the writing was accomplished. Thit (ex-monk) Nya along with his wife and children from Chan Tai village, Luang Prabang province, and Sathu Phò Phatthaman from Vat Mai, jointly sponsored the making of this manuscript [entitled] Phutthasen, fascicle 3, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May we all reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna is our ultimate goal. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna in the future. I am Thit Nya who is the scribe. May I become a Buddha in the future.
