This volume contains letters written by the Governor of Sierra Leone between 25 July and 26 December 1851. The first page includes an index listing the schedules transmitted to the Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, providing their page number, subject and date. For each despatch written in the volume, the index includes the date and the place where it was written, the number of the despatch, and the signature of the sender. Some pages consist of a schedule of despatches sent on a specific date and provide information on the number of the despatch, its date, the subject and the number of enclosures. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is damage from iron gall.
