This volume contains letters written by the Governor of the West African settlements between 5 January 1869 and 26 January 1872. Each despatch in the volume includes the date and place it was written, the number of the despatch, the name of the recipient, and the signature of the sender. The length of a despatch varies from one paragraph to several pages. The volume is bound in red cloth boards. There is damage from iron gall. The back cover is breaking away from the rest of the volume, and the binding is damaged.
