The volume contains information on cases brought before the Acting Police Magistrate or the Acting Assistant Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 13 July and 14 September 1859. Reports on cases include the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. Reference is made to the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and of witnesses. Information is provided on sentencing. The report of a case varies from one paragraph to several pages. Cases range from assault to petty theft. The volume is tightly bound in blue cloth boards. There is some damage from iron gall.
