The volume contains information on cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between May 1857 and 29 September 1857. Reports on cases include the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. Reports also include the accounts of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and witnesses. Information is also provided on sentencing. The binding is loose, and the cover is missing. Some pages at the beginning of the volume are missing. The paper is brittle, and the corners of some pages are folded over. There is damage from water and mould.
