The volume contains information on cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court in Freetown between 2 March and 4 June 1888. In the reporting of cases, the document includes information on the date on which the case was heard at the Police Court, the date on which the offence was committed, the name of the Acting Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant. It also includes information about the offence, whether the prisoner pleaded guilty, and the sentence. It sometimes includes the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. The cover and the spine are damaged. There are some traces of damage from iron gall.
