The volume contains cases brought to the Police Court at Freetown before the Police Magistrate between 26 January and 8 June 1877. It contains an index that lists the cases alphabetically by name of the defendant and provides the page number in the volume. For each case, it includes information on the date, the name of the Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant, whether the prisoner pleaded guilty, and the sentence. It sometimes includes the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. Details of the sentence are also provided. The cover and the spine are damaged, which means that the binding is loose for some pages.
