The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate or the Acting Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 6 March and 28 June 1895. It includes an index that lists the cases by name of the defendant, and gives the offence, the sentence and the page number in the volume. In the reporting of cases, information is provided on the name of the Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant. Information is also recorded about the nature and date of the offence, and sometimes includes statements by the plaintiff and the defendant, as well as some witnesses and the prosecutor. There is also reference to whether the defendant pleaded guilty, the sentence given, and whether fines have been paid. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There are some traces of water damage.
