There are three sluices in the Āriyūr tank and all the three are having inscriptions. The inscription under discussion is engraved on the Āriyūr Mēlakaṇmāi of the Āriyūr village. This sluice is probably installed by the individual in the name of the king Rājarājaṉ and named as Rājarājaṉmaḍai and palaeographically dated to 10th century CE. ஆரியூர் குளத்தில் மூன்று குமிழிகள் உள்ளன. மூன்று குமுழிகளிலும் கல்வெட்டு காணப்படுகின்றன. தற்போது ஆய்வுக்கு உட்படுத்தப்பட்ட கல்வெட்டு ஆரியூர் மேலக்கண்மாயில் ஆரியூர் குளத்தில் மூன்று குமிழிகள் உள்ளன. மூன்று குமிழி களிலும் கல்வெட்டுகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஆரியூர் மேலக்கண்மாயில் காணப்படும் மன்னன் ராஜராஜன் பெயரால் எழுப்பப்பட்டுள்ள இக்குமிழி கல்வெட்டு எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இதன் காலம் பொ.ஆ.10ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு எனலாம். கல்வெட்டு: ஸ்வஸ்தி/ஸ்ரீ ராஜ ரா/ஜன்.
