There are three sluices in the Āriyūr tank and all the three are having inscriptions. The inscription under discussion is engraved on the Āriyūr Kīḻakkaṇmāi of the Āriyūr village. This sluice installed by Porimayaṉ-tāḻi-p-pērayaṉ in memory of his father Porimayaṉ-iḍamari during the 14th regnal year of Uttama-chōḻa (984 CE). It refers to the installation of the sluice pillar (kāl) and the sluice (kumuḻi).
