On one occasion, the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. Venerable Anada asked the Buddha about the age of each of the preverios Buddhas. The Buddha said that, there are many Buddhas who have passed away that are innumerable. But in the Buddha vamsa (the Buddhas’ family) there are 28 Buddhas including Tanhaṅkara with the age of one hundred thousand years, Medhaṅkara with the age of ninty thousand years, Saranaṅkara with the age of twenty thousand years, Dīpaṅkara with the age of one hundred thousand years, Kondanna with the age of one hundred thousand years, Maṅgala with the age of ninty thousand years, Sumana with the age of ninty thousand years, Revata with the age of sixty thousand years, Sobhita with the age of ninty thousand years, and so on. Colophon: Folio 17 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2485, a tao sanga year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the tenth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The initiator, Sao Khampha sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Lokavachanasut to dedicate to my husband named Xiang Sa who already died to the other world. May the results of this merit move him to a good place. [if he] is already in a good place, may he be better than ever by one hundred and one hundred thousand times, and to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly, the greatest bliss.
