The content tells the story of Venerable Mahakappina. In the Buddha’s time, King Mahakappina was the ruler of the city of Kukkutavati. He had a queen named Anoja Devi. The king had the most ardent religious faith in the Triple Gem. On day, he along with his followers travelled by horses to see the Buddha in Savatthi. After listening to the sermon from the Buddha on Anupubbikatha (a gradual instruction), the king and all his followers attained Sotapanna and were ordained by the Buddha as monks, named Venerable Mahakappina. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa one hundred and 97 (corresponding with CS 1197), a hap mot year.
