The text tells in the Buddha’s time, there was a woman who had the most ardent religious faith in the Buddha’s teachings. She made regularly the alms-giving to the monks. One day while she was bringing the rice, water and food to the monastery in order to offer to the monks. A crow catching on a tree near by saw the woman bringing the food, with hungriness; it flew down and nibbled at the food. By the result of the bad deed, after death the crow went to hell. After the hell, it became a peta (hungry ghost). Colophon: Folio 13 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2451, a vòk year (the Year of the Monkey), Chunlasangkat (CS) 1270, on the eleventh day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday). Sathu (Monk) Khamhung from Vat Hatsok had the religious faith to write the story of Sòng Khao Sangkhaphat (Rewards derived from Offering Food to the Sangha) to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May all my wishes and desires come true. Nibbāna paccayo hotu me (May this be a condition for me to reach Nirvana). On the other hand, may the results of this merit support my parent. Sadhu sadhu, niccaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (Amen, the greatest bliss constanly).
