ອານິສົງການຖວາຍຜ້າກະຖິນ. ໃນສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກເຈົ້າຊົງປະທັບຢູ່ວັດເຊຕະວັນ ເມືອງສາວັດຖີ ຊົງປາລົບພະຍາອະຊິຕະຣາດ ຈຶ່ງສະແດງພະທໍາມະເທດສະໜາດວງນີ້. ໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນ ຍັງມີພະຍາຕົນໜຶ່ງ ຊົງພະນາມວ່າ ພະຍາອະຊິຕະຣາດ ພ້ອມດ້ວຍເສນາອໍາມາດເຂົ້າເຝົ້າພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າແລະທູນຖາມພະພຸດທະອົງວ່າ “ຂ້າແດ່ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກເຈົ້າ ການໃຫ້ທານເຍື່ອງໃດມີຜະລະອານິສົງຍິ່ງນັກກໍ່ຂ້າຈາ?” ພະພຸດທະອົງຈຶ່ງຕັດວ່າ “ດູລາມະຫາລາດ, ການໃຫ້ກະຖິນນະທານປະເສີດກວ່າການໃຫ້ທານທັງຫລາຍ”. ດ້ວຍເຫດວ່າ ຜ້າກະຖິນນັ້ນຈັດເປັນສັງຄະທານຄືຖວາຍແກ່ຄະນະສົງໂດຍບໍ່ເຈາະຈົງແກ່ພິກຂຸອົງໃດອົງໜຶ່ງ ເຊິ່ງມີໄລຍະເວລາໃນການຖວາຍຜ້າກະຖິນພຽງ ໑ ເດືອນ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: (໑) ລານທີ ໙ ໜ້າ ໑: ຈຸນລະສັງກາດຣາຊະໄດ້ ໑໒໙໗ ຕົວ ປີຮັບໃຄ້ ເດືອນ ໑໐ ຂຶ້ນ ໑໒ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໒ ຣິດຈະນາແລ້ວຍາມກອງງາຍ ໝາຍມີ ສາທຸພໍ່ສຸກ ວັດຊຽງເຫລັກ ມີໃຈໃສສັດທາ ສອງສັບພະທານ ສອງພຸດທະຮູບ ສອງກັນຖິນ ໓ ຜູກນີ ໄວ້ກັບພະພຸດທະສາສະໜາ ຂໍໃຫ້ໄດ້ດັ່ງປາດຖະໜາ. ອະຣະຫັນຕາ ມັກຄະຜະລະຍານເມດໄຕໂຍ ສັນຕິເກ ນິດຈັງ ນິບພານັງ ປະຣະມັງ ໂຫນຕຸ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: (໒) ລານທີ ໑໐ ໜ້າ ໑: ຈຸນລະສັງກາດຣາຊະໄດ້ ໑໒໙໗ ຕົວ ປີຮັບໃຄ້ ເດືອນ ໑໐ ຂຶ້ນ ໑໒ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໒ ຣິດຈະນາແລ້ວຍາມກອງງາຍ ໝາຍມີ ສາທຸພໍ່ສຸກ ວັດຊຽງເຫລັກ ມີໃຈໃສສັດທາສ້າງ ປິດຕະກະ ສອງບວດ ສອງຂົວ ສອງວິດ ໔ ຜູກ ທານໄວ້ກັບພະພຸດທະສາສະໜາ ຂໍໃຫ້ໄດ້ດັ່ງປາດຖະໜາ ອະຣະຫັນໂຕ ມັກຄະຜະລະຍານເມດໄຕໂຍ ສັນຕິເກ ນິດຈັງ ນິບພານັງ ປະຣະມັງ ໂຫນຕຸ.
The rewards derived from offering the Kathina robes. On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke to his disciples about King Ajita and delivered this sermon. At the time, King Ajita, the ruler of Varanasi, along with his ministers and followers approached the presence of the Buddha and asked the Buddha that "My Blessed One, what kind of almsgiving has the greatest results?" The Buddha said, "His Majesty, Offering the Kathina robes is better than all alms". As the Kathina robes are organized as Saṅghadāna (offering to the Sangha) which is offered to the whole monks without specifying to any monk, and have a period of only 1 month. Colophons: (1) Folio 9 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1297, a hap khai year, on the twelfth day of the waxing moon of the tenth lunar month, the second day of the week (Monday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Sathu Phò Suk from Vat Xiang Lek had the religious faith to sponsor the making of these manuscript entitled namely Sòng Sapphathan, Sòng Phutthahūp, Sòng Kanthin, three fascicles, to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May my wishes come true. Arahanta magga bhala ñāna metteyyo santike niccaṃ nibbanaṃ paramaṃ hontu.
