On one occasion, the Buddha was present at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. At the time, Venerable Sariputta asked the Buddha: "Any person, male or female, who is devout in the teachings of the Buddha and donates the book chests for keeping the scriptions of the Buddha, what rewards will he or she be able to receive?" At the time, the Buddha said, “Sariputta, any man or woman who is devout in the teachings of the Buddha and makes the book chests by oneself or by hiring other to do for, will much merit. After death, the person will be born as the kings of devas such as Indra and Brahma. Colophon: Folio 13 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 2 hundred and 15 (corresponding with CS 1215), a ka pao year, on the second day of the waxing moon of the third lunar month, the first day of the week (Sunday), a tao nyi day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Saen Mukkha and his children and grandchildren had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sappha Sòng to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes come true. Nibbāna paccayo huto no dhuvaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for me to reach Nirvana, certainly). Sao Khammu is the sponsor.
