The text tells in the Buddha’s time, there was a woman who had the most ardent religious faith in the Buddha’s teachings. She made regularly the alms-giving to the monks. One day while she was bringing the rice, water and food to the monastery in order to offer to the monks. A crow catching on a tree near by saw the woman bringing the food, with hungriness; it flew down and nibbled at the food. By the result of the bad deed, after death the crow went to hell. After the hell, it became a peta (hungry ghost). Colophon: Folio 22 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (BE) 2491, a ka sai year, on the ninth day of the waxing moon of the second lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), a huang day, the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). Chao (Prince) Khamtan and Chao (Princess) Khamfong together with all their children had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Thevathut (Devadūta Sutta), Phothipannya, abbot of Vat Xiang Thong is the scribe, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (Nirvanaa is the greatest bliss, certainly and forever). Ahaṃ maranakālaṃ amullaho siladānaṃ.
