Caturarakkha means the four protective meditations including Buddhanussati, recognition of the Buddha; Metta (loving-kindness) is to wish others to be happy; Asubha (unattractiveness), contemplating the body to see it is not beautiful; and Maranassati is mindfulness of death. Buddhanussati, the recognition of the virtues of the Buddha that are the three virtues consisting of wisdom, compassion and purity. Colophon: Folio 24 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 1253, a huang mao year, the eighth day of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, a huang pao day, the sixth day of the week (Friday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng thae kai thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock). Phia Phummin and his wife had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Phtthanutsati (Recollection of the Buddha) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
