The Buddha preached a sermon on Phala Sangkhaya Jataka to his disciples at the Veluvana monastery in Rajagaha. At one time, the Buddha taught King Somphupati (Jumbupati) until the king became faithful and was ordained as a monk. Later, the Buddha related the story of his previous life. There was a man named Savanasunyo lived in the village of Pathapappha Kama. He travelled to many cities for looking for a gilr to marry, but no women loved him. He was upset and planned to commit suicide. He entered the forest in order to be food of fierce animals. Later, he met a hermit and became his disciple. Colophon: Folio 22 on the recto side: Sisattabuarabat chunlasangkatrasa thousand 20037 (corresponding with CS 1237), a hap khai year, the third day of the waning moon of the fifth lunar month, the third day of the week (Tuesday), a kat hao day, the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Buphipattarat, the king who lives in the front golden palace, along with his children and relatives had the most ardent religious faith to sponsore the making of this manuscript [entitled] Lam phalasangkhanya, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna is the ultimate goal. Amen amen!.
