The text tells about the first Buddhist Council, the Sangha in the council invited Ananda Thera to recite the Suttanta Pitaka through the five collections and the seven volumes of the Abhidhamma. Then Ananda Thera said that the Sangha, please listen to me, I am reciting the Suttanta right now. If I make mistake, please remind me. Colophon: Folio 23 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 1261, a kat khai year, the first day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), a tao si day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Phikkhu Khamphilapannya from Vat That had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sangkhanyana (Sangayana), to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May wishes of mine come true. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
