The content tells the story of a previous life of the Sivali Thera. In the time of Padumuttara Buudha, at the time, he was born as a king in the city of Hongsavadi. The king saw the Buddha had appointed a monk in the position of etadagga (foremost), who was very wealthy. So he wished for that position as well. Therefore, the king invited the Buddha along with his disciples to have meals at his palace for seven days. After giving alms, he set his wish: “may I become the etadagga, superior to all the bhikkhus who have a lot of gains in the future”. The Buddha therefore prophesied that your wish will be fulfilled in the future. You will be born in the name of Sivali and be ordained at the place of the Buddha named Gotama.
