The content tells the consequences of the bad and good deeds that the Bodhisatta committed in the previous lives. When the Bodhisatta was born as Vessantara, he was obtained by the results of those deeds. Paccayanagena elephant is the result of owe. In a previous existence, the Bodhisatta was born as a rich man, and a very poor man borrowed a hundred of money from him. When the man paid back, he paid not fully amount, it was lack of a piece. In this life, the borrower was born as the Paccayanagena elephant for serving the Bodhisatta. Vessantara was expelled to the forest by the people as a result, he, as King Jumbupatirat who invaded other cities frightening the rulers and took their wives and children to hide in the forests. The two cusins, Jali and Kanha were tied to a robe and beaten by Jujaka as a result of the bad deed. In a previous life, the two hired the rich man to feed his cow for 15 days. During the time, they tied the cow and beaten it. In this life, the cow was reborn as Jujaka.
