On one occasion, the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. Venerable Anada asked the Buddha about the age of each of the preverios Buddhas. The Buddha said that, there are many Buddhas who have passed away that are innumerable. But in the Buddha vamsa (the Buddhas’ family) there are 28 Buddhas including Tanhaṅkara with the age of one hundred thousand years, Medhaṅkara with the age of ninty thousand years, Saranaṅkara with the age of twenty thousand years, Dīpaṅkara with the age of one hundred thousand years, Kondanna with the age of one hundred thousand years, Maṅgala with the age of ninty thousand years, Sumana with the age of ninty thousand years, Revata with the age of sixty thousand years, Sobhita with the age of ninty thousand years, and so on. Colophon: Folio 18 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 1253, a huang mao year, on the second day of the waxing moon of the first lunar month, the sixth day of the week (Friday), a ka sai day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Sathu (Princess) Buasi together with all children and grandchildren had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Lokavacharasut, to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May my wishes and desires come true. Sadhu, sadhu. Nibbāna paranaṃ sukhaṃ (Nibbāna is greatest bliss).
