The text tells about the observance of the five precepts, eight precepts and tenfold wholesome course of action. These who want to observe the precepts must set the minds intentionally and firmly. If you make a mistake in any of the precepts, it is considered that all the precepts are lost. The Lord Buddha preached a sermon to teach the four groups of Buddhist to behave in good ways, to be kind to one another, to be committed to giving alms, to be kind, and to be merciful, in order to be the protectors of us from going to any of the four hells. When we can maintain all the precepts without any defects, we will be pure and free from all hell. Colophon: Folio 22 on the recto side: Buddhist Era 21482 (corresponding with BE 2482), a kat mao year, on the fourth day of the waning moon of the fifth lunar month, a poek nyi, the seventh day of the week (Tuesday), the writing was accomplished at night. The initiators, Xiang (ex-novice) Tan and his wife, Sao Khamphan from the village of Nakham together with all their siblings and children had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Patchavekkhanasut, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May the results of this merit support two of us until entering Nirvana and cut out of the five Mara (devils) as wished.
