ທໍາມະປັດທະ (ຜູກ ໕, ມັດ ໑໖)

ນິທານທໍາມະບົດ ເລື່ອງ ພິກຂຸ ໕໐໐ ອົງ. ໃນສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າປະທັບຢູ່ວັດພະເຊຕະວັນ ເມືອງສາວັດຖີ ຊົງປາຣົບພິກຂຸ ໕໐໐ ອົງ. ໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນຍັງມີພິກຂຸຈາກເມືອງສາວັດຖີ ຈໍານວນ ໕໐໐ ອົງ ໄດ້ເຂົ້າເຝົ້າແລະທູນຂໍພະກໍາມັດຖານຈາກພະພຸດທະອົງແລ້ວ ກໍ່ໄປປະຕິບັດທໍາກໍາມະຖານຢູ່ປ່າແຫ່ງໜຶ່ງ. ພິກຂຸເຫລົ່ານັ້ນໄດ້ສັງເກດເຫັນດອກໄມ້ບານໃນຕອນເຊົ້າ ແລະຫລຸດອອກຈາກຂວັ້ນຫລົ່ນລົງສູ່ພື້ນດິນໃນຕອນແລງ ຈຶ່ງສົນທະນາກັນວ່າ ເຮົາທັງຫລາຍຕ້ອງພະຍາຍາມຕັດອາສະວະກິເລດໃຫ້ໄດ້ຄືກັບດອກໄມ້ທີ່ຫລຸດອອກຈາກຂວັ້ນນັ້ນ ໃນຂະນະນັ້ນພະພຸດທະອົງຊົງກວດອຸປະນິໄສຂອງພິກຂຸທັງຫລາຍກໍ່ຊາບວ່າ ພິກຂຸເຫລົ່ານັ້ນກໍາລັງກະທໍາຄວາມພຽນເພື່ອການຫລຸດພົ້ນ ພະພຸດທະອົງຈຶ່ງສະເດັດໄປສະແດງພະທໍາມະເທດສະໜາວ່າ ພິກຂຸທັງຫລາຍພວກທ່ານຈົ່ງປ່ອຍວາງຣາຄະແລະໂທສະເສຍ ເໝືອນດັ່ງ ຕົ້ນດອກໄມ້ທີ່ປ່ອຍດອກທັງຫລາຍທີ່ຫ່ຽວແຫ້ງນັ້ນໃຫ້ຕົກຫລົ່ນລົງສູ່ພື້ນດິນ ຄັ້ນເມື່ອພະທໍາມະເທດສະໜາຈົບລົງ ພິກຂຸເຫລົ່ານັ້ນກໍ່ໄດ້ບັນລຸເປັນພະອໍລະຫັນ. ຄໍາລົງທ້າຍ: ລານທີ ໒໖ ໜ້າ ໑: ສັງກາດໄດ້ ໑໒໓໐ ຕົວ ປີເປິກສີ ເດືອນ ໗ ຂຶ້ນ ໓ ຄໍ່າ ວັນ ໑ ມື້ກັດເຮົ້າ ຣິດຈະນາແລ້ວຍາມກອງງາຍ ໝາຍມີ ພໍ່ຜິວແລະແມ່ຜິວ ບ້ານຫົວໂພນ ມີໃຈໃສສັດທາເປັນອັນຍິ່ງ ຈິ່ງໄດ້ພ້ອມກັນສ້າງ ທໍາມະປັດທະ ໄວ້ກັບສາສະໜາ ເທົ້າ ໕ ພັນວັດສາ ຂໍໃຫ້ຜູ້ຂ້າໄດ້ດັ່ງຄໍາມັກຄໍາປາດຖະໜາ ນິບພານະ ປັດຈະໂຍ ໂຫນຕຸໂນ.

The story of 500 bhikkhus. On one occasion, while dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke about 500 bhikkhus. At that time there were 500 bhikkhus from the city of Savatthi came to the presence of the Buddha and learnt Kammathana from him. They then went into the forest and practiced meditation there. When they observed the flowers bloming in the morning and falling down from the tree to the ground in the afternoon. They talked to each other that, all of us must try to cut off the defilements like the flowers that fell from the tree. At that time, the Buddha examined the habits of those bhikkhus and realized that they were doing practice for deliverance. The Buddha therefore went to preach them a sermon and said that, ‘Bhikkhus! You should let lobha (greed) and dosa (hatred) go of like the trees of the flowers that leave all the withered flowers falling down to the ground. As soon as the sermon was over, those bhikkhus attained enlightenement. Pho Phio and Mae Phio from the village of Huaphon had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this first manuscript-bundle entitled Dhammapada to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May our wishes come true. Nibbāna paccayo hontu no sādhu (May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna).
