This volume contains baptismal records of children born to enslaved mothers after the passage of Law 2040/1871, the "Free Womb" Law, and registered in the Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Porto das Caixas, Itaboraí-RJ. Entries date from 08 Oct 1871 to 10 Apr 1888. There is no opening charter; the volume was viewed and closed by D. Francisco, Bishop of Petrópolis, on 28 May 1898. Some of the baptisms took place in a satellite parish, the chapel of Santo Antonio. The following clergy signed the entries: Manoel Florentino Cassiano Campos and Joaquim de Azevedo Castro. Physical characteristics: The volume is comprised of 28 numbered folios. Some of the folios have come loose from the binding, but are otherwise in good condition.
