Batismos de Escravos, 1801-1828

This volume contains baptismal records of slaves registered in the Church of São João Batista de Icaraí (Carahy, Carii, Carahi) and covers the period between 14 May 1801 and 06 February 1828. The entries were signed by the Vicar, Father José Joaquim De Avila (D'Avila). There are records of enslaved individuals with the ethnonyms Cabinda, Kassange, Ganguela, Angola, Moçambique, Benguela, Rebola, Monjola, Mina, Congo, Molumba, and Calabar. Some of the registers of illegitimate children (filhos naturais) include the names of the child's maternal grandparents. Physical characteristics: The volume comprises 244 numbered folios.
