The text tells the previous deeds of a peta (hungry ghost) who had the shape of a bone. One day, while Lakkhana Thera and Maha Moggallana Thera were descending from the Gijjhakuta in Rajakshu for collecting alms, the Maha Moggallana Thera saw a ghost in the shape of a bone. After that, the two theras went to the presence of the Buddha and reported about the ghost to the Buddha. The Buddha then related on the previous deeds of the ghost.
