Lao customary law on the mediation of cases. The judge or person who will mediate any case has to be competent and knowledgeable in the principles of virtue, wise and omniscient. It is better if the person has been ordained and trained. The judgment has to be based on in different ways. Sometime the judgment is based on the times and places and the environment of the fact. Sometime the judgment is based on the witness. Sometime the judgment is based on the world conditions (customary law), but sometime the judgment is based on the doctrine conditions (religious principles). The story as example: A rich man lived in Kosambi. When his son was born, he told his made to take his son to the Ganga River to take a bath for longevity. At the time, a giant fish took the baby away and swallowed him into its belly. The fish went away for six yot. Later it was caught by a fisherman and sale at a market in Anuratha city. The made of a rich man in the city went to the market and saw the fish, she thought it had eggs. So, she bought it for her boss. When she opened the fish’s belly, she found a baby alive. When the rich man in Kosambi knew that his son was still alive, he brought one thousand of gold to redeem his child, but the rich man of Anuratha did not agree. So they both went to the court. The court decided they both were the fathers of the boy and each could take care of the boy for four months of each round.
