The Dhammapada story on the Upatissa and Kolita, two friends from Rajagaha. While watching a show they realised the unreality of things and decided to search for the way of liberation. First, they approached Sanjaya Paribasaka, but they were not satisfied with his teaching. So, they separated and went all over the country after coming to an understanding that the one who found the true doctrine should inform the other. One day, Upatissa came across Venerable Assaji and learned from him a gist of the Dhamma, he attained Sotapatti. Then he went to tell the gist to his friend. Kolita also attained Sotipatti. They both were ordained as monks and later became two chief disciplines of the Buddha. Upatissa became Venerable Sariputta and Kolita became Venerable Moggallana.
