The text tells about the age and the change of the Teachings of the Buddha. On one occasion while the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. Venerable Sariputta and Devas questioned the Buddha how are his teachings going on? The Buddha gave a sermon and said that his teachings will disappear from Jambudvipa and Lankadvipa after the 5000 years. After 500 year there is no bhikkhuni. After 1000 years, no Arahants. After 2000 years, no one learns the three baskets by heart. After 3000, no assemblies of the monks for the recitation of the Patimokkha. After 4000 years, a person who has a small piece of the yellow robe on his shoulder, he will be called as a monk. After 5000 years, no monks who teach the teachings of the Buddha.
