The text tells about the age and the change of the Teachings of the Buddha. On one occasion while the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi. Venerable Sariputta and Devas questioned the Buddha how are his teachings going on? The Buddha gave a sermon and said that his teachings will disappear from Jambudvipa and Lankadvipa after the 5000 years. After 500 year there is no bhikkhuni. After 1000 years, no Arahants. After 2000 years, no one learns the three baskets by heart. After 3000, no assemblies of the monks for the recitation of the Patimokkha. After 4000 years, a person who has a small piece of the yellow robe on his shoulder, he will be called as a monk. After 5000 years, no monks who teach the teac hings of the Buddha. Colophon: Folios 26 and 27 on the recto side, the texts are the same: Buddhist Era 1211 (possibility is CS 1211), a kat hao year, on the sixth day of the waxing moon of the third lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), a kot sanga day, the writing was accomplished at the time of tut tang mue sao (between 6.00–7.30 o’clock). Phò Tü and Mae Tü sponsored the making of this manuscript [entitled] Sòng Hòm That to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes and desires come true.
