Title in original script: அகத்தியர்- 205 The manuscript is constituted of a text, incomplete, containing palm leaves numbered from 1 to 13; the leaf 4 is missing. The manuscript is in good condition, the leaves being slightly affected by larvae and rodents. The text, entitled Akattiyar- 205, is written in verses. It deals with formulation of medicines. One of the verses of the manuscript specifies: “I [Akattiyar] have written many texts, but people may made medicines by following this text which reveals how to prepare tailam [medicated oils], paṟpam [calcined white medicines based on metals and minerals], and centūram [calcined red medicine prepared from metals and minerals], by using a single medicinal plant”. The formulation of medicines exposed in the text are: Medicated oils: Vaṅka vēr tailam, Vēṅkai tailam, Veṭṭi vēr tailam, Vēmpu paṭṭai tailam, Iruntoṭṭi tailam as well as a oil (tailam) for urinary tract infection (mēkam). Calcined white medicine prepared from metals and minerals: Kānta paṟpam, Tāmira paṟpam, Raca paṟpam, Vaṅka paṟpam, Karuvaṅka paṟpam, Veṅkala paṟpam, Pittaḷai paṟpam, Veḷḷi paṟpam, Kantaka paṟpam, Maṇṭūra paṟpam, Añcaṉākkal paṟpam, Tāḷaka paṟpam, Liṅka paṟpam, Vīra paṟpam, Pavaḷa paṟpam, Vaira paṟpam, Rattiṉa paṟpam, Pāṣāṇa paṟpam, Cāra nīr paṟpam, Āmai oṭu paṟpam; Pūnīṟu or Turucu nīṟu and Taṅka nīṟu. Wax-like medicine: Cutti meḻuku. Additionally, the text provides inform on the combination of gold and copper pyrites (poṉ nimiḷai). Size of the manuscript: 44,5cm x 3,8cm. The text is composed of palm leaves numbered from 1 to 13. The leaf 4 is missing and leaves 9, 10 and 12 ave no numbered as they are partly bitten by rodents. Two additional blank leaves open and close the text. The manuscript is in good condition; the leaves being slightly damaged by larvae and rodents.
