The volume contains details of cases brought before the Police Magistrate and the Acting Police Magistrate at the Police Office in Freetown between 15 May and 11 October 1865. The volume contains an alphabetical index that lists cases by the name of the defendant and the page number in the volume. The volume includes information on the date of the case, the name of the Police Magistrate who heard the case, the name of the person charged, the offence, and whether the defendant confessed to the crime. It also includes information on whether the case was dismissed, or the sentence given. The reports of cases sometimes include the accounts of the plaintiff and defendant, the Police Constable and of some witnesses. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is water damage and damage from iron gall. There are some traces of mould.
