Police Magistrate Records 13 Nov 1849-29 May 1850

The volume contains details of cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Office in Freetown between 13 November 1849 and 29 May 1850. It includes the date and the name of the Police Magistrate who heard the case, the name of the person charged, and the offence. It also includes information on whether the case was dismissed, or the sentence. The reports of cases sometimes include the names and accounts of the plaintiff and defendant, of the Police Constable and of some witnesses. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive water damage and some damage from iron gall. The paper is brittle, and the edges of the last pages are breaking away. These have been mended with tape.
