The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 13 July and 28 December 1864. It contains an alphabetical index listing cases by name of the defendant. The index lists the page number in the volume, the offence and how it was dealt with. The volume includes information on the date, the name of the Police Magistrate who heard the case, the name of the person charged, the offence, and whether the defendant pleaded guilty. It also includes information on whether the case was dismissed, or the sentence given. It sometimes includes the accounts of the plaintiff and defendant, of the Police Constable and of some witnesses. For each statement, it provides the occupation and the address of the person testifying. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive damage from iron gall. There is also water damage, and a few torn pages.
