Spisso Varios [1920s-1950s]

Description: This envelope contains two envelopes and loose material. The two envelopes are titled Liberato Spisso and Josefa Alfonso de Spisso (husband and wife) respectively, and contain photos, articles and clippings from newspapers and magazines, engravings, among other material. This handmade envelope informs us of Liberato and Josefa Alonso, his wife. Spisso was born in Argentina in 1903. He was a self-taught painter, sculptor and engraver. He has been called “the forgotten artist,” thus, constituting another example of Argentinean lost heritage. Many of his works were saved by Doctor Larocque Tinker although he had exhibited during his lifetime with success worldwide. He married Josefa Alonso (1910-1949), his student then, poet and painter on her own right. Extent of original: Envelope. Condition of original: Regular to bad condition.
