San Clemente Cordoba [1930s]

Description: This handmade envelope contains only a few photos on San Clemente. This is a town is the Argentine province of Córdoba in the administrative district (or Departamento) of Santa María. It is a historically significant place because of the archaeological rests of the indigenous Comechingones (or Sanavirones). It was also an important passage of communication in the Viceroyalty of Perú between the silver mine of Potosí and the, then, interior region of the Governorate (or Gobernación) of the Río de la Plata. Eventually, it developed into an agricultural region and, after the 1950s, into a tourist attraction with its mountains, rivers and historical architecture such as the well-known Church of Nuestra Señora del Merced.
