Caroya Pueblo Córdoba [1930s-1950s]

Description: This envelope refers to Caroya, a town in the province of Córdoba. In the 17th century, Caroya was an estancia (or large land estate) managed by the Jesuits but it was in 1876 that it became an agricultural colony for Italian immigrants thanks to the Argentine President Nicolás Avellaneda. A group of families from Friuli, northeast Italy, arrived at Caroya to work its land. It was due to their hard labour that this dry land covered with scrubs turned into sown fields in between multiple irrigation channels. This is a handmade envelope that contains clippings and articles from magazines and newspapers, plus photos and engravings. Extent of original: Handmade envelope . Condition of original: Regular to bad condition.
