Description: This is a handmade envelope with photos, engravings plus newspapers' and magazines' clippings and articles on Vicente Scarlatto who was a loyal emissary, confidant, and advisor of president Hipólito Yrigoyen. According to some documents, he had been a shoe-polisher and was fiercely persecuted by the military after the 1930 coup because he had received a big number of arms and munitions some days before the military coup in order to defend Yrigoyen’s government. During this time, Scarlatto was protected from political persecution by famous tango singer and composer Carlos Gardel, his close friend. Scarlatto is another of the little researched politicians in the pre 1943 period. This envelope also covers his political life until his death in the 1950s. Extent of original: Handmade envelope .
