There are three sluices in the tank of which the centre sluice called naḍumadai installed in the central part of the tank close to the bund had an inscription. It was installed by Jaṉmataṭṭāṉ alias Peruñjuṉaiyūr-taṭṭāṉ belongs to Ponnakaram of northern part of Kōṉāḍu, a territorial division. It belongs to 10th century CE on palaeographical ground.
