The inscription is found engraved on the western pillar of the sluice erected close to the bund in eastern part of the Periyakuḷam. This sluice belongs to the Matiyanallūr village. The inscription refers to the erection of this sluice by Cāttaṉ Māṟaṉ. On the palaeographical ground, it belongs to 9th century CE.
