In the Buddha’s time, there was a girl named Passacitta Kumari living in Araññagama, not far from the Veluvanna monastery. She was only daughter of a rich man in Varanasi. After the death of her parent, she was orphan and became destitute with no relatives and supporters. The property from her parent had been finished. She thought that this might be the results of her previous bad actions. Then she came to the Buddha and asked the Buddha about her situation. Thus, the Buddha delivered a sermon and described that in her previous existences, she had never gave alms, not observed the precepts, did not respect to parents and old people. That was why she is destitute.
