In the practice of the kammatthana, the way to practice the meditation in the basic level is to pray in mind a principle with a short word or to count the numbers in the mind such as 1-5. When the praying reaches the number 5, then starts it again. When we repeat it many times, the mind will get concentration and reaches the five jhāna (absorption). The word "jhāna" means “watching”.
